SUMMARY:AIW NSW Event – Waterproofing Insulated Roof Build-Ups
DESCRIPTION:Join us for an informative and interactive evening dedicated to mastering insulated roof build-ups. Tailored for waterproofing designers\, specifiers\, suppliers and installers\, this technical session will explore two key approaches to flat roof waterproofing – Inverted Roof systems and Warm Roof systems. Gain practical insights from industry experts\, see live demonstrations of each roof build-up\, and discover best practices to ensure durable\, compliant\, and leak-free roof designs. \nKey Topics & Activities\n\nInverted Roof Systems (Paul Young): Learn how placing the waterproofing membrane beneath the insulation can protect your roof and improve performance. Paul will share the fundamentals of inverted roof design\, its benefits\, and considerations for achieving long-lasting results using this method.\nWarm Roof Systems (Daniel Caruana): Discover the alternative approach of installing insulation first with the waterproofing on top. Daniel will cover how warm roof build-ups keep insulation dry and efficient\, along with installation tips and real-world insights from projects using this technique.\nHands-On Demonstrations: Get up close with live demos of both an inverted roof assembly and a warm roof assembly. See the layers and materials in action – a great chance to physically examine how each system is put together and ask questions as you view the mock-ups.\nReal-World Discussion: Beyond theory\, engage in an open discussion about how these systems perform on actual jobs. Hear case studies and compare the pros and cons of each approach in practice. Bring your questions and challenges for a Q&A session to tap into the expertise in the room.\nNetworking & Industry Updates: Connect with fellow waterproofing professionals over refreshments. Share experiences\, swap tips\, and build your network in a friendly setting. Plus\, get a sneak peek at upcoming industry developments – including an exclusive AIW update (new logo reveal and more) – to stay ahead of the curve.\n\nWhy Attend?\nThis event offers valuable knowledge and hands-on experience for anyone involved in roof waterproofing or flat roof design: \n\nStay Informed: Keep up-to-date with the latest best practices and standards for insulated roof waterproofing. Understand how each system aligns with current building codes and quality benchmarks in our industry.\nEnhance Your Skills: Gain practical tips for designing and installing flat roof systems that prevent leaks and failures. Learn how to avoid common pitfalls when working with insulation and membranes\, whether in new constructions or remedial projects.\nImprove Your Projects: Discover which roof build-up is best suited for different scenarios. You’ll be better equipped to choose between inverted and warm roof solutions based on project requirements\, climate conditions\, and compliance needs – leading to more durable and energy-efficient outcomes.\nEngage and Network: Take advantage of the collective wisdom of the AIW community. Discuss real-world application tricks\, ask questions directly to experienced professionals\, and grow your professional network for future collaboration.\n\nDon’t miss this opportunity to deepen your expertise in waterproofing insulated roofs. Whether you design these systems or install them on the job\, you’ll come away with a clearer understanding of both approaches and how to apply them successfully. Join us for a night of knowledge-sharing\, hands-on learning\, and professional growth – and take your roof waterproofing mastery to the next level! \nWhere\nWaterproofing Integrity\, Silverwater\, New South Wales \nhttps://maps.app.goo.gl/PrKGRNjaf8EcAgju6 \nTickets\nPlaces are limited to individual ticket purchases only. SUMMARY:AIW NSW Technical Event - With PENETRON
DESCRIPTION:Concrete Waterproofing – Structurally Integral Solutions \nThis month AIW NSW teams up with member company Penetron to cover the theory and practice of concrete waterproofing. Concrete waterproofing is critical component of construction impacting the overall durability to concrete structures. \nAs concrete is permeable\, it is subject to water ingress that can lead to adverse conditions such as mould and mildew growth\, corrosion of embedded steel reinforcement\, spalling and cracking. \nConcrete is an integral component of the built world so knowing how to protect its integrity is critical for anyone working in the construction space. \nDon’t miss your chance to develop a deeper appreciation of the importance of this important topic and gain additional know-how from Penetron’s team of experts. \nWhat’s Covered \nPenetron’s team lead by Pedram Mojarrad and Paul Amestroy will walk (and talk) you through a range of pioneering concrete waterproofing and durability solutions. \nThey’ll look at appropriate solutions for concrete structures such as basements\, rooftops\, water reservoirs\, driveways covering crystalline technology (admixtures and coatings)\, provide explanations through real life case studies and finish off with a live demonstration. \nLocation address \nWaterproofing Integrity: U49C/2 Slough Ave\, Silverwater NSW 2128 \nTimings \n4:00 – 6:00 PM (approx) \nPPE \nProtective gear is recommended especially steel capped boots and safety glasses.

SUMMARY:Waterstops - Glazed Assemblies and Above Screed Know-How
DESCRIPTION:Content \nWaterstops\, in all their forms and positions\, serve a critical function in any waterproofing job. The problem is they are often regarded as the ‘icing on the cake’ rather than an essential ingredient to the integrity of the work. In this seminar\, we give waterstops the respect they deserve examining their various forms and functions. We will give special focus to the importance of glazed assemblies and correct installation of waterstops above screed. \nWe encourage participants to stay on for networking in the Baby Shoe Bar on the upper level. \nAbout the Speaker \nGreg Keet is the Director or Alliance FM. He started his career in Architectural and Building studies while working on-the-tools in Perth’s construction industry. Greg has over 20 years’ experience in the commercial furniture design and fitout installation sector. It was not long before Greg was recognised for his building knowledge and in 2007 he pivoted to building inspections and disputes with waterproofing failures being the predominant defects. Greg has enjoyed outstanding success in his strata assisted building disputes\, remediation\, and improvement programmes. In addition to work in building disputes\, Greg’s writes design specific waterproofing specifications\, consults and supervisors remediation work.
