SUMMARY:Planter Box Design & Construct
DESCRIPTION:This webinar will help you gain better understanding of considering a holistic design and construct methodology.\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout this event\n\n\nWaterproofing failures of planter boxes is one of the top-ranking failure points in the construction industry. Unfortunately\, to date\, there is little guidance on how to design and waterproof planter boxes correctly. But the contributing factors of why planter boxes fail\, is extensive. It is quite common to find large garden areas that are built over\, or adjacent to buildings without adequate waterproofing protection This is a recipe for disaster. \nTypically\, we have two different common construction methods\, rigid and lightweight constructed planters. Rigid\, consisting of concrete and masonry structural elements\, or lightweight\, being constructed of timber/ steel framed and overlaid with compliant materials in accordance with AS4654.2-2012. \n\n \n\nThe design of planter boxes must comprise of a holistic methodology\, that considers a few key elements\, such as\, drainage\, falls and overflow provisions\, correct penetration detailing\, sheet v liquid membrane selection\, growing medium selection\, protection\, containment and ongoing maintenance serviceability. \nThis webinar will assist attendees to gain the understanding of considering a holistic design and construct methodology. \nSome of the topics covered: \n\nMandatory NCC Compliance for planter box construction\nRain garden v planter box design considerations\nFalls\, drainage and overflow requirements\nCorrect service penetration detailing\nWaterproof membrane selection\nRoot-resistance and protection methods\nEfflorescence control\nServiceability and ongoing maintenance allowance\n\nDeveloped and presented by: \n\nByron Landeryou\nMartin Stockley\n\nCPD Points Earned: 2

SUMMARY:Basement Tanking Design
DESCRIPTION:In this webinar\, you will learn how to develop the necessary strategies to waterproof basements successfully.\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout this event\n\n\nResidential basements are now a popular building design feature due to limited space\, particularly around the inner suburban environment. Basements require early planning and an in-depth understanding of the principles of waterproofing for these structures to survive and remain serviceable for their intended life span. \nIn this webinar\, we will you to develop the necessary strategies to waterproof basements successfully. We will discuss and explain – \n\nhabitable and non-habitable designs\,\n\n\nwater tables (natural & perched)\,\n\n\nhydrostatic and non-hydrostatic installations\,\n\n\nthe differences between blindside\, positive\, negative side tanking\n\n\nwet and dry basement considerations and\n\n\nhow to integrate drainage.\n\nWe close off the webinar by introducing attendees to selecting a variety of alternative membrane systems based on a risk vs cost analysis. \nwaMain Takeaways \n\nLearn the Mandatory compliance requirements to NCC for basement construction\n\n\nHabitable vs non-habitable designs\n\n\nSite assessment\, risk analysis & OH&S requirements\n\n\nHydrostatic vs non-hydrostatic pressure\n\n\nPositive\, negative and blindside membranes\n\n\nMembrane system selection.\n\nDeveloped and presented by: \n\nByron Landeryou\nMartin Stockley\n\nCPD Points Earned: 2
