It is quite common to find large garden areas that are built over\, or adjacent to buildings without adequate waterproofing protection This is a recipe for disaster. \nTypically\, we have two different common construction methods\, rigid and lightweight constructed planters. DESCRIPTION:How wall or floor lining systems & substrates are installed will have a dramatic effect on results\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout this event\n\n\nMany waterproofing failures can be attributed to poor processes conducted by the builder\, or the builder’s sub-contractors. The importance of how the wall or floor lining systems and substrates have been installed will have a dramatic effect on the end result of the waterproofing installation success. \nWith many builders now placing such a heavy reliance on the sub-contractors be experts and to conduct their practices in accordance with installation guides\, standards and most of the time unsupervised. We have seen a dramatic increase in unacceptable substrates being prepared for waterproofing installations. \nCommonly\, waterproofers are subjected to install the waterproof membrane to substrates that have been clearly installed incorrectly. Such scenarios comprise of incorrect fixing amounts\, incorrect topping compounds being used\, sheet flooring configuration\, drainage types and amounts used\, external cladding detailing\, lack of expansion joints\, inadequate fall methodology and overflow provisions. \nIn this session we will provide attendees with real-life situations of acceptable and unacceptable situations to view\, including the installation guides do’s and don’ts. DESCRIPTION:Waterproofing Awareness Webinar – Developing a Waterproofing Materials Specification \nThe vast majority waterproofing materials failures can be attributed to membranes under performing in service conditions that they were not intended to be exposed. \nCurrently the selection of waterproofing materials is often left to the discretion of the waterproofing contractor and a design and construct model in a competitive tender market.  Unfortunately\, this results in suitable products being replaced with more cost-effective options that may not be suitable for the service conditions to which they will be exposed\, with disastrous consequences. \nThe NCC has requirements for demonstrating ‘fit for purpose’ of any materials\, products or forms of construction used on a project and waterproofing materials must demonstrate compliance with this requirement. NCC compliance pathways and evidence of suitability will be discussed in the context of waterproofing materials.
